Donkeys of Destiny win series 3-1

The fences were up, the sun was out and the teams were ready to play game four of this best of five series. The Donkey’s lead the Elephant’s 2 - 1 and looked to close out the series quickly and convincingly. Both teams wasted no time getting on the scoreboard.

In the top of the first Elephant 3rd basemen Kevin Kuzmiak blasted a 2 run homer that came to rest deep in the tanbark of the playground. The Donkey’s however prevailed in the bottom of the first by plating 9 runs of their own off a 3 run homer by Ed which was followed up by a towering homerun from Ryan. At the end of 1 the score was 9 - 2 in the favor of the Donkey’s.

In the top of the second Kuzmiak went yard again for the Elephants, this time over the big blue monster in left. The ball was almost caught by left fielder DaRosa who ran into it and brought the big wall down with all of his weight. After the inning DaRosa could be heard saying that he touched it and if he had it to do over he would make the catch. I doubt it. Once again though the Donkey’s got the last laugh as they plated 8 more runs thanks to a Simas 2 RBI double, a Ryan 2 run homerun, a Bush homerun and rookie sensation Ruben Gonzales’ first career BAD ASS homerun which was good for 3 runs. At the end of the 2nd the score was 17 - 4 and the Donkey’s were rolling.

The Elephant’s weren’t about to rollover and with some outstanding defense from Leland Yow and some big time homeruns by captain Torance Matsui and Alvin Trinh they narrowed the gap. Joel Stauffer also helped by plating 2 more runs with a nifty triple of his own. RBI's by Manning and Kuzmiak helped get the Elephants back into the ballgame but they still trailed the Donkey’s 26 - 18. The Elephants went down quietly though in the 7th and 8th not being able to score any runs which hurt their chances. The theme for the Donkey’s in the 7th and 8th innings was very different.

Homerun, Homerun, Homerun. A total of 11 homeruns in the game for the Donkey’s and 3 alone in the 7th put the game out of reach. Captain Matsui did all he could in the game and in the ninth hit a solo homerun but it just wasn’t enough to pull his Elephants to victory. Rob Flores’ Donkey’s of Destiny won the game by a final score of 31 -19 and ended the best of five series in Donkey "Hee Haw" fashion.

Game Notes

* Rob Flores has never lost a series as manager bringing his series record to 3 - 0

* 16 homeruns in all by both teams.

* Ledeit made a nice 180 degree no look stab to rob Stauffer of a single.

* DaRosa’s first multiple homerun game since returning back from San Diego in 2005 helped earn Co-BAD ASS of the Day with Ledeit and Bush.

* Leland Yow continued to flash the leather this week earning him Gold Glove

* Still no sign of Mr. Goodson…….anyone check the obituaries??

Game 2

The exhibition game brought two new faces to the era that will forever be known as BAD ASS! Travis Jackson and Eddie Youn. Also in attendance for game two was crowd favorite Brandon Hamilton who made his first appearance of 2007. Unfortunately for all the above mentioned they would be going home with a loss. A big loss.

Noob Crew                       Honey Bee All - Stars

Travis Jackson                  Leland Yow

Eddie Youn                       Brian Bush

Brandon Hamilton              Torance Matsui

Ruben Gonzales                Cav Manning

Kevin Kuzmiak                   Ryan Ledeit

Rob Flores                        Greg Minor

Ed DaRosa                         Joel Stauffer

Final Score 21 - 2 in favor of the All-Stars. Both rookies weren’t looking too good in their debut with Jackson doing the better of the two going 1 for 4 at the plate while recording his first career strikeout. Youn followed suit by going 0 for 4 at the plate, also netting his first career strikeout in his first ever BAD ASS at bat.

Game Notes

* Teams were decided by everyone tossing a ball towards the backstop, with the seven closest playing on the home team.

* DaRosa plated the only 2 runs for the Noobs with a solo homerun and an RBI double

* Multiple errors from first basemen Gonzales, shortstop Youn and 3rd basemen Kuzmiak as well as the teams offense hurt their chance if any of a Noob victory.

* No game awards were presented. -ED
