SANTA CLARA, 8/31/08: The 42nd and final game of the 2008 BAD ASS Baseball season may not have been the most dramatic or exciting game of the season, but it was an enjoyable and fun way to end the year. Flores and Wagner were chosen as captains, stemming from a rivalry that was spawned in last week's game. After Flores' team, Highway 101, took an early lead, Wagner's Cy Young squad battled back and cruised to a 20-15 victory.

AWARDS, RECORDS, AND HIGHLIGHTS

-No awards were handed out today.

-Controversial play #1: Gonzalez appears to make a shoe-string catch at buck and then fires the ball to first base. HWY 101 argued that Ruben trapped the ball, otherwise, why would he throw to 1st? After some brief arguing, the ball was ruled a single.

-Controversial play #2: Wagner beats out a grounder, then turns his shoulder towards 2nd base when the ball got past 1B, Bernal. HWY 101 argues Wagner made a move towards 2nd and after Tito tagged him, he should be out. Wagner and his team argue he made no such deliberate move towards 2nd and in the end was ruled safe.

-Offensive standouts included Holley who swung a bat for the first time since injuring his ribs. Kev finished the day 6 for 7 with a HR and 5 RBI.

-Wagner: 7 for 7, HR, 5 RBI

-Andraesen: 5 for 5, 3 runs

-DaRosa: 4 for 5, 2 2B, 2 RBI

-Yanez: 7 for 8, 6 1B, 5 runs

-Flores, sitting on 99 RBI on the season was visibly upset when Matsui didn't score from 2nd base when Rob singled in the 7th inning. Flores ended up getting a 2-run hit in the 9th to give him 101 RBI on the season, hence his team name.

-Kuzmiak went homerless and finished the season at a league high 47, just shy of Manning's record of 50 set in 2003.

-Matsui was 6 for 8 and won the batting title for the 2nd time in his career. He finished at .692, 2nd best all time behind Ridley's .696 in 2005.

-Matsui also led the league with 167 RBI, 150 runs, 76 2B, and 209 hits. The 150 runs scored breaks his own record of 129, set in 2005. His 209 hits are 3rd most in BAD ASS history and 1st person to do pass 200 since 2003. His 76 doubles are also the 2nd most in BAB history.

-Bush tripled giving him 21 on the season, extending his record his broke a few weeks ago. Bush also finished with a league high 23 wins.
